Youzi Wool Coat Care Guide: Extend the Warmth
Share
The soft warmth of Youzi wool coats comes from natural materials and craftsmanship. However, wool is delicate—proper care is key to making this winter companion last longer. Below are the core care tips:
1. Daily Care: Less Washing = Longer Lifespan
- Dust Removal: After wearing, hang the coat in a ventilated area (avoid direct sunlight). Use a wool brush to gently brush off surface dust along the fiber direction.
- Stain Treatment: For stains like coffee or sauce, dip a damp (not dripping) towel in mild detergent, gently press the stained area (do not rub—this damages fibers). Wipe with a clean damp towel to remove detergent residue, then air-dry.
- Storage: Fully dry the coat first, then hang it on a wide-shouldered hanger. Cover with a breathable dust bag (avoid plastic bags). Place 1-2 tissue-wrapped mothballs inside, and keep away from sharp objects.
2. Washing Methods: Choose Wisely to Protect Fabric
Hand washing is preferred, followed by the washing machine’s wool cycle. Dry cleaning should be used sparingly:
- Hand Washing: Use warm water (around 30°C) + wool-specific detergent. Soak for 5-10 minutes, then gently press to clean (no twisting). Rinse 2-3 times (add fabric softener if desired). To drain, roll the coat in a clean towel to absorb water (do not wring). Lay flat to air-dry (do not hang or expose to direct sunlight).
- Machine Washing: Use the wool cycle (below 30°C, low spin speed). Put the coat in a laundry bag. Remove immediately after washing and drain as instructed for hand washing.
- Dry Cleaning: Only use for tough stains (e.g., motor oil, lipstick). Limit to 1-2 times a year—frequent dry cleaning damages wool fibers.
3. Common Issues & Solutions
- Pilling: Use a wool-specific lint remover (with round blades) or tape to remove pills. Brush along the fibers afterward.
- Deformation: For slight shoulder/sleeve deformation, use a steam iron (wool setting, 10-15cm away from fabric) to steam gently. Pull the fabric lightly by hand to restore shape.
- Mildew: For small mildew spots, dip a brush in white vinegar and wipe gently. Clean as per hand washing instructions. For severe cases, take to a professional dry cleaner.
Youzi wants to help you preserve the coat’s warmth. May it accompany you through every autumn and winter.
